There were lots of traditional wooden items around the Lisov museum in Slovakia but I was particularly interested to find some locally made wooden spoons and bowls for sale as well as one example of an old wooden eating spoon in a museum.
During the trip I also found time to carve some of my own spoons from a piece of local cherry timber as well as making a small spatula, a toy helicopter and a pulled fibre brush from local hazel. I would love to do more work to teach these types of projects to the local people and learn more from them.
