But mowing is not all there is to do. What to do with the grass if no farmer wants to have it and you yourself have no animals who could eat it? There's only one possibility left - compost heap. I enjoy piling the grass into a neat heap, space enough for all the grass to come during the season. Fresh grass is HEAVY - it does not look like it and every time I'm surprised about it. But with help, it's shared work :)

I would love to benefit from your knowledge and wisdom.
ReplyDeleteI don't, however, plan to pollute the planet to travel to Europe to attend one of your courses. It would be great if you could share your knowledge through a DVD or youtube-style video clip such that I can learn more and help to promote & teach scything in Australia.
Do you have any such plans, or could someone help you put a video together ?
I already have a copy of the Vido's "Living Lightly" and the factory DVD on "Scything Techniques" - I am after more in depth insight (and admit I know no Yoga or Ta-Chi).
hi John,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with your thoughts on flying round the world to learn a 'sustainable' craft skill
I can point you to some excellent resources on youtube, first from Kai Vido in Canada and then from Neil Dudman in Czech Republic, who has some great videos especially on peening.
Christoff Schneider from Austria teaches mowing in New Zealand.
hope this helps,
Steve

Hi Neil Dudman here, I recently came across this, and was pleased to see any link to our youtube page... or website at kosimesnadno.cz or mowingwithease.com. Just another piece of information if your in Australia and looking for help, we had last year a loverly couple visit us on their European tour, they attended one of our courses and are excellent students. Mike and Joyce at http://www.allsun.com.au Joyce is practicing mowing herself and may be able to help.
